Hello, friend-I’m Allison.
I am a wife and momma to five living in the heart of The Land of Enchantment-New Mexico, USA.
I created this space as a way to journal all of the things I’m learning about gardening, cooking from scratch, preserving and sourcing ingredients, and creating a simple and beautiful life for our family.
My greatest wish is to hear, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” when I leave this Earth and come face to face with my Lord and Savior, Jesus. Until then, I want to steward well all we’ve been blessed with, and I hope that you will be encouraged and inspired by this journal to seek Jesus, keep oil in your lamp & be fruitful until our Lord calls you home.
I wasn’t always a gardener.
In fact, prior to 2018, I was undeniably considered a black thumb. I couldn’t keep a plant alive to save my life.
I also didn’t know how to cook or bake until I was 35. Thanks to The Great British Baking Show, that changed and I am now incredibly confident in the kitchen. It turns out it’s actually not as hard as it looks!
And, thanks to Justin Rhodes and his Great American Farm Tour, and Jessica Sowards and her tomato video (and many videos later) I am now also confident in the garden. (Also actually not as hard as it looks!)
Over the course of 7 years, I have slowly built my knowledge, my skills and my mindset to the point where I feel like I (somewhat) know what I’m doing. I wish I had started this journal years ago, and in some ways I did with my YouTube channel I started in 2021.
The videos have been sporadic, and I should have been better about documenting the journey. The ups and downs and all of the changes through the years, but that is where this new direction of Home & Harvest Journal comes in.
I am hopeful for what is ahead and I can’t wait to share it all with you!
Subscribe to my email list to get updates when a new journal entry or video is posted, recipes and books I’m loving, and other home and life things we’re striving to steward well.
I am so thankful for you, friend. Thank you for being here.
